you may want to try a cleavelavd load in a hotel pack strap with a loop of webbing attached to it. We use this on our trucks with hosebeds that are hard to reach.

Hey Jason, We have been using the Cleveland Roll on our trucks and it's awesome. It's not really in reference to this discussion, but since you were on the topic, I thought I would share. Let me know if you try it. http://firenewsonline.com/the-cl

If you have an early stage vehicle fire you could probably get by with a booster hose but my attitude is....why take the chance? You'll might as well pull the pre-connect which will put the fire out and make you look like a rock star rather than ret…

It's going to be difficult for any of us to armchair quarterback this one because we weren't there! Do you have a SOG, SOP, or some sort of written procedure for vehicle fires? That's what I would try to follow. Anyway, my opinion based on what you…

We use the triple load, easy to pull off and less tangles Todd McKee

Good luck, let me know if works for you. Have a good weekend. jason BTW, great name : )

Actually.....that does help! I may try keeping one side of the safety net loose. That would prevent a firefighter from getting on the step above the tailboard to remove the net. Next week I'll try it and see how that works out. If it works I'll owe…

I don't think there is an easy answer for this. Shorter trucks with lower profile? One thing we have done on one of our trucks is attached a loop of webbing to the end of the load and secured the loop to the hand rail. We left one corner of the hose…

We have a engine that is too tall for most of out guys. Our engine is a 2002 so we don't have a net in the back but we have a big hose cover that is easily accessible to the bed Both out 1 3/4 and 2 1/2 is in the triple layer which is a great load f…

Guys, We've just received our new engine and I'm kind of lost regarding what rear pre-connect hose load is best. More or less we've developed a hose load that works on all of our units. It's a hybrid minuteman with a nozzle holder near the tailboar…

E-One is notorious for having electrical issues! We have several of their units in service and had our share of problems. I have a few questions for you. What year is the unit and how many miles/hours does it have? Have you weighed it? That might…

Todd, If you're talking about personality types....like type A or B.....I don't think there is a specific personality that's required for this occupation. In my opinion it doesn't matter if you're a type A or B because we need both in the fire serv…

Brian, This is a very sensitive topic for me because I've been a huge proponent of live fire training with acquired structures and Florida adopted 1403 a few years ago. I'm not going to debate the pros/cons here because that's not what you're looki…

Brian, We staff three FF's minimum on our units. Once in awhile we get four if the moons align in the solar system. You can probably guess how often that is! If I do get a grant I'll invite you for the reseach and frosty beverages. Unfortunately w…

I am familiar with the issues at Meridian plaza. I think Mike needs to change the topic to " Why solid stream is better for standpipe operations". That's why the conversation has branched off to solid vs fog. In my personal opinion it doesn't matter…

That makes more sense regarding the pressure issue. I don't know why a department would want to replace a traditional fog with a low pressure fog and maintain 50 PSI for an attack line but that's just me. I know that TFT makes a 50PSI/150GPM combo n…

I worked for three fire departments since then and loved them all! I feel that the fire service is best job in the country bar none.
